This is a little divergence of my usual blogs but I thought this would be a fun quick one to share…. My favorite ride at Disney World… no, strike that, my favorite ride anywhere!
To be fair, to start with, I am a HUGE fan of Guardians of the Galaxy in general. (Except for the third movie… not that one… that one made me ugly cry so badly.) And I absolutely adore Rocket. He’s snarky and adorable, what’s not to love? The fact that I am a fan definitely might have an impact on this being my favorite ride but that is only part of it.
I don’t want to give away too too much for those of you who haven’t yet ridden this fantastic funtastic adventure so I will try and give you some broad strokes and then I can’t wait to hear what you think once you ride it.

Let’s start with the basics. This ride is at EPCOT at Disney World in Florida. If you want to go to EPCOT you can purchase a single park pass or a park hopper. (I can’t tell you what is better for you – you’ll have to decide just how much Disney you want.) Now here’s where it gets a little more complicated than it necessarily used to be in the past… this ride is so popular this is almost never a standby line available.
To ride this you will need to join a virtual queue https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/virtual-queue/
or buy a lightning lane https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/genie/lightning-lane/
If I am being honest, it all still sort of confuses me so I won’t muddy the waters by trying to explain it! The upside is that you won’t have to wait for hours and hours to ride this but be sure you understand how to get a space saved for you with one of the options or you will be out of luck and by midday it is totally full.
The ride is indeed a roller coaster BUT it is not an extreme one, well not by my standards. SPOILER ALERT – it does not go upside down and it doesn’t have any immense drops. I hate to give anything away but I think that is important for people to be able to judge if they want to ride it or not.
The pre-show (very typical Disney to move people along but keep you entertained) is well done and will have you smiling. For those who have seen the movies you’ll love that you get to see all your favorite characters and get some of the nuances of the things they say. For those who haven’t seen the movies – no worries! This stands alone just fine for you to get the point of what the ride and the “mission” is all about.
The ride is set to music that is guaranteed to have you singing and dancing as the ride takes you on a cosmic journey! There are 6 possible songs you can get (a 7th during the holiday season) and you never know which it will be so that adds to the fun in my opinion.
If you are not bopping and dancing and singing on this ride with the biggest grin on your face… well, I don’t know what to say… It’s such a blast I can promise you will be doing all those things!
My cheeks hurt from smiling so much after I ride this. And if I could just ride it over and over and over…I would!
That’s it! Not telling you anymore. I don’t want to give away all the fun. So go check it out for yourself and report back what you think. I can’t wait to hear all about it!
Oh… and tell Rocket I say Hi!
