When chatting with the bartender at our resort who also told us about the Surfing Goat Dairy (see previous blog to read more about that!) she also mentioned to make a stop at Ocean Vodka’s place and that they not only had great drinks but fantastic food. We made a note of that and figured we would do our best to check it out at some point.
What we didn’t know was that we would drive right past this place on our way to visit the goats and it is less than a half a mile from there, so as we passed it we decided that after visiting the goats, we would make a visit to Ocean Organic Farm & Distillery.
As we pulled into the drive up to the venue, we already loved this place! Awesome plants and also some clever signs – a very welcoming entrance!

We parked our car and wandered in not knowing if we would be able to do a tour etc. because we hadn’t booked in advance but we figured we would give it a shot! We wandered into the gift shop (which yes we went back later and purchased several things!) and found out that we were in luck! There were spots available of the tasting and tour that was starting in about 10 minutes. We paid our fee and collected our shot glasses for the tasting portion of the tour.
Our tour guide told us about the history of the brand as well as the property. It is locally owned and operated. This facility makes all the spirits that they sell. They have rum, vodka, and gin. To create these spirits they grow as much of their own sugar cane as they can and we learned about the various varieties of sugar cane as well as the process for creating the spirits.

All of the spirits for Ocean Vodka, Kula Rum, and Fy Gin are created on this property. I love to see “small” local companies doing out of this world big things. I suspect most of you reading this can find Ocean Vodka on the shelf in your liquor store and every bottle comes from here!

After the tour we did of course get to do a tasting and had some sips of each of the spirits they distill.
We also learned a lot about the process and why they do things the way they do. Fun and educational!

After the tour we wandered in to the Farm Café on property for some lunch. The menu is fantastic! Marissa enjoyed a delicious burger. I settled on the Chicken Caesar Pita and WOW! I am still thinking about that. It was SO good. They make the pitas in house and they are so delicious.
We had such a wonderful visit here and honestly chatting with the nice folks there they are a big part of what inspired me to get on finally writing this blog. I shared with them my hesitation to visit Maui after they were so gracious in thanking us for coming and they shared with me that the best thing we can do to help them is to spread the word for people to come visit. So I am!

We left that day knowing we would definitely want to visit here again in the future.
On our last day in Maui I had a conference to be at all day and then we were flying out at 11pm that evening so we had some time after my conference ended for us to go do something… when we visited Ocean Vodka they told us about how they have live music in the evenings and many had told us about seeing sunset there… so we threw our luggage in the car and headed back to enjoy the evening.
We were thrilled to see so many people there to enjoy the evening. We grabbed a seat at one of the picnic tables and enjoyed listening to the incredibly talented local musician – Elele Tiana.

We grabbed the menus to try and make a decision about what to order for dinner (and we knew based on our previous experience that it would be a difficult decision!)
Ultimately we decided based on how tasty the pita bread was on the sandwich I’d had earlier that we would try their in-house made hummus with pita and local veggies as well as the Wild Mushroom Pizza which is described as - Lapa'au Farms wild mushrooms, caramelized Kula onions, roasted garlic, herb white sauce, mozzarella, and romano, truffle oil finish.
Once again, the food did not disappoint. (My mouth is watering as I type this because I really want that pizza again!)

We savored every bite as we watched the sun go down. It was a truly wonderful evening – a perfect way to end our Maui adventure. If you’re in Maui definitely go visit! As you can see, it’s great to visit day or evening!
